RIG members in discussion with Col Bob Stewart MP

On Wednesday 7th November we held our first ever reception in the Houses of Parliament to celebrate the UK's independent radio production sector.  The event brought more than 20 MPs and Peers in an informal setting with RIG Board members representing independent production companies from across the UK and celebrity guests such as Johnnie Walker and Sue MacGregor.

The event was hosted by Liberal Democrat MP Don Foster, a long-standing supporter of independent radio production. RIG Chair, Phil Critchlow, told guests of the part that indies could play in contributing to economic growth if given greater access to radio station schedules, and also called for support for developing new markets in the UK and abroad.

He was followed by the former head of the BBC World Service Sir John Tusa, who talked very positively about his experience of working with indies.

RIG then premiered its new audio-visual presentation, which gives the facts about independent radio production and makes the case for allowing the sector to contribute further to growth.  This A-V will be launched to the public on YouTube on Monday 12 November
